Good financial advice starts with your life. Your accounts, your goals, and the decisions ahead.
That’s what Sam Dogen wanted when he tried Mezzi. Sam founded Financial Samurai in 2009, sharing firsthand lessons on investing and financial independence with millions of readers.
He spent 13 years at Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse before retiring from finance in 2012 at 34 with a net worth of about $3 million. A pioneer of the financial independence, retire early movement, he recently invested in Mezzi.
I told Sam about Mezzi over lunch in San Francisco. He started using it with his own finances, beginning with his equity portfolios and adding real estate, bank accounts, and credit cards.

He wanted to ask specific questions and work through the answers.
“I was hoping Mezzi would be that convenient AI application layer for wealth management that could answer specific questions about my portfolio. It did.”
His accounts. His questions. His decisions.
Sam started with one of his largest investments: Google.
He knew how many shares he owned directly. But Google also sat inside his S&P 500 ETFs. Mezzi brought those holdings together, showed his total exposure, and recommended reducing it. Sam chose to sell some shares in his tax-advantaged accounts.
Taxes were part of the conversation, too. When Sam reviewed his Nike investment, he found a larger loss than he remembered. He sold enough to offset long-term capital gains from other sales.
The value was in connecting the numbers to a decision. As Sam writes:
“Most importantly, you walk away with a personalized recommendation.”
From using Mezzi to backing it
Sam’s belief in Mezzi grew from putting it to work. He also valued the years our team had spent building the product and learning from customers.
“So I asked Manish if I could invest. He said yes, and I did.”
We’re glad to have him alongside us. His experience reflects what we’re building for you: advice that understands your financial picture and helps you decide what comes next.
Whether you’re reviewing an investment, planning for retirement, or weighing a tax decision, bring the question to Mezzi. You make the final call.
