How I Mezzi is a look at how I use Mezzi in my own financial life.
I usually turn to Mezzi for bigger questions about investing, taxes and retirement. This week, I used it for two smaller ones: Where has my everyday spending shifted? And has the insurance payout I'm expecting arrived?
See the change behind the total
I asked Mezzi how my credit card spending had changed over the past month. The answer pointed to a shift I might have missed by looking at the total alone: I had spent less on food delivery and more on groceries.
That gave me a useful place to start. I could look at the transactions behind each category and decide whether the change reflected a choice I wanted to keep making. A spending summary is most useful when it helps you ask the next question.
Stop checking for the deposit
I also asked Mezzi to find my insurance charges. I was waiting on a claim payout, so I asked it to let me know when the money arrived in one of my linked accounts.
That request is a delegation: Mezzi checks for the deposit on the saved cadence and emails me according to the saved delivery schedule after it detects it. It is not an instant bank notification. Once the request is set up, I don't need to keep opening my accounts just to check for that one payment.
If you're expecting a refund, reimbursement or claim payout, you can ask Mezzi to watch for it too. Be specific about the payment and the accounts where it could arrive, then confirm the check cadence and email schedule are saved.
Waiting on money to arrive? Ask Mezzi to notify you when an expected payout appears in a linked account.
Set up a payout alertThe spending question helped me see a change. The payout request gave me one less thing to check. Both began with an ordinary question about my money.
This article describes my use of Mezzi and is for informational purposes only. It is not personalized investment, tax or legal advice. Spending categories and linked-account data can be incomplete or delayed; check transactions and confirm a delegation is saved before relying on a notification. Features and availability can change.
